Online Master's Eligibility When Your Graduation Marks Are Below 50%
Most online MBA programmes in India ask for 50% in graduation (45% for reserved categories), but a few list lower or no percentage cut-offs. This table is built from the universities' own pages, which we checked on 9 October 2026. Where those pages contradict each other, we say so instead of picking one.

What Lower Marks Can Still Affect Later
- Exams: UGC-NET, for example, asks for a minimum percentage in your master's degree (higher than the usual bachelor's cut-off).
- Jobs: some recruiters set minimum marks. Read the notification. See also our guide on whether an online degree is valid for government jobs.
- Recognition: the university and the programme must be UGC-DEB recognised for your session, whatever marks you were admitted with.
- Promises: be careful with anyone who guarantees admission "with any marks". Ask for the official eligibility in writing.
Online Master's Without 50% in Graduation: FAQs
Can I do an online MBA if I have less than 50% in graduation?
Yes, in some cases. Amity Online lists a 40% minimum and a test route below that, and Vivekananda Global University (Online VGU) states no percentage cut-off on its online MBA page. Many other universities, including Symbiosis, Manipal and NMIMS, ask for 50%. Always confirm your exact eligibility with the university in writing.
Which online MBA accepts 40% in graduation?
Amity University Online lists graduation in any discipline with 40% in the last qualifying exam, and a qualifying test if you are below 40%. Confirm the current rule with Amity before you apply.
Does VGU require 50% for its online MBA?
VGU's official online MBA page does not state a percentage cut-off. It asks for a bachelor's degree from a recognised university. Some third-party websites list 50%, so ask the admissions team to confirm your eligibility in writing.
Does Galgotias Online MBA need a minimum percentage?
The official pages disagree. Galgotias Online lists "Graduation Pass", while the main university page for the online MBA lists 55%. Get written confirmation from the admissions team before paying.
What does "graduation pass" mean?
It usually means you must have passed your bachelor's degree, without a stated percentage cut-off. You will normally need your degree or provisional certificate and mark sheets. Ask how the university treats backlogs.
Is an online MBA taken on lower marks valid?
Validity depends on the university and the programme being UGC-DEB recognised for your session, not on your admission marks. Verify both on the UGC-DEB portal or with our UGC-DEB checker.
Will low graduation marks affect my future options?
They can. For example, UGC-NET asks for a minimum percentage in your master's degree, and some recruiters set marks cut-offs. Check the rules of any exam or employer you are aiming for.
Is a lower eligibility requirement a sign of a weaker university?
Not necessarily, and not a sign of a better one either. Eligibility is just one factor. Compare recognition, NAAC grade, fees, exam mode and support before you decide.
